Hello, I'm Richard (often Rik) Arthur, welcome to my website, I hope you enjoy browsing through these photographs through which I try to convey some of my passion for wildlife and the beautiful, unspoiled, places which exist all around us.
Years spent touring the country to fly hang gliders and more recently to race sailing dinghies opened my eyes to the beauty which is rarely more than an hour away from us even in crowded Britain. From the Hebrides to the white cliffs of southern England and from Wales to the east coast there is always something new and thought-provoking to see.
I joined the Royal Photographic Society in 2011 and hold an LRPS distinction. In September 2012 I started an honours degree course in Documentary Photography at University of Wales, Newport. The course is reputed to be amongst the best in Europe and was started in the 1970's by Magnum photographer David Hurn. Hopefully three years of academic study will raise the quality of the images displayed here.
